My main focus is building computational pipelines and software for discovering amyloid binders, alongside other projects in the lab.
Undergraduate work
At Albion College I worked with Dr. Clifford E. Harris on the enantioselective synthesis of beta-amino-alcohols. The work covered the chiral synthesis of trans-2-benzylamino-cyclohexanols using boron catalysts under nitrogen, the preparation of enantiomerically pure standards, and enantiomeric analysis by chiral HPLC. Reaction conditions such as temperature were tuned to improve yield and selectivity. Shorter projects covered the electro-oxidation of hydroxymethylfurfural on NiOOH with Dr. Kevin Metz and gene annotation of the D. willistoni F Muller element with the Genomics Education Partnership.
